How to make people stop scrolling (in 1 second) 🔴
One word = 33M views
Last week, United Airlines broke the internet with something called the ‘Relax Row’ - three economy seats that can turn into a bed. Pretty cool.
But that’s not why it went extremely viral.
Look at the first line:
“The entire row is alllllll yours.”
Not “all yours.” Alllllll. One stretched word.
It got them 33 million views - and it proved a human wrote it. No AI would ever write “alllllll”. It’s grammatically wrong, it looks weird, and that’s exactly why it works.
This is called a 🌀 pattern interrupt 🌀: Something in the first line that makes your brain go “wait what?” instead of keep scrolling.
I’ve written thousands of social posts so far.
Pattern interrupts are my single best LinkedIn trick. I used them to grow Wiz’s page from zero to 400K followers, and some of those posts crossed 1 million impressions. The pattern interrupt is a big reason why.
My. Favorite. Version. ⭐️
Another pattern interrupt that works really well: Putting a period after every single word.
Instead of “This is massive” you write:
“This. is. massive!”
Instead of “Oh my gosh” you write:
“OH. MY. GOSH.”
The periods force people to read each word separately instead of skimming past.
Your cheat sheet (9 pattern interrupts to steal) 📋
It took me years and thousands of posts to figure these out.
You get them in 3 minutes :)
Below are 9 proven pattern interrupts with real examples you can copy-paste. No creativity needed. Grab one, drop it into your first line, and I can pretty much guarantee the results will surprise you.
