How to steal your competitor’s customers for <$100 🥷
Wispr Flow is paying a bounty (!!) for its competitor’s customers. I can’t stop thinking about it.
This email went out to its affiliates this month:
Bring over a paying Granola user → get $35.
The user gets a deal too, so the hunters have something easy to sell. Wispr covers whatever is left on their Granola plan + 3 bonus months:
The marketing idea 💡
Put a price on your competitor’s customers, and pay anyone who brings one over.
Start with the influencers of your competitor 💰
If I were running Wispr Flow’s marketing, I’d take this offer to the influencers who promoted Granola in the past, even before I sent it to affiliates.
These people already have access to Granola’s customers. They brought them in themselves! ✅
And Granola pays its own affiliates $20 for every new user:
Wispr pays $35 for every Granola user who leaves. So the people who brought users to Granola can now make more money moving them out. Lol.
Your happiest customers can hunt too 🙋
You don’t need an affiliate program for this. Your happiest customers know who on their team, or in their network, still pays for your competitor. Email them:
“Know someone still paying for [competitor]? Send them this link. If they switch, we’ll cover the rest of their plan, and you’ll get [3 months free]”.
Email everyone who picked your competitor 💌
Lastly, send this to every deal you lost to your competitor this year:
“Hi [name], you went with [competitor] a few months ago. If it’s not working out, switch now. Every month left on your [competitor] plan is a month of [your product], free. The longer you wait, the fewer you get”.
I stole this template from Supercut - they send this to everyone still paying for Loom:
Obviously, this mostly works if you have a sales team that speaks to each lead and knows where they went.
Have a great week ✌️
