Yes, I’ve been doing this on LinkedIn for ages but there’s always part of me thinking, should it be in the comments.

I shall wonder no longer!

I always put the link in my posts, and it seems to do pretty well.

really struggling to believe this but each time i give it a shot i get 7 views

i post the same content the next day without the link and it does much better

thanks for sharing, does this works on threads or IG as well? thanks again

On IG, links in captions are not clickable anyway (which is why "link in bio" is a thing)...

The trick is to add the link but don't make the whole post about the link.

Give them a reason to click to that link but also to stay on the post and engage.

The whole reason why platforms hate links is because they want people to stay on the platform longer. When you make the whole post about the link, people click on it and never get back.

Is that also on Facebook and Facebook groups?

I hope Instagram and TikTok will do that soon - the links in the comments are not even clickable.

I've just posted a few with a link I. The comments 🙁 It's hard to keep up sometimes!

I could never figure out why links can’t be in the post if makes the content good, and is related to the content. Good that this is no longer the case

Nice opinionated post. No link here 😎

LinkedIn’s Senior Director of Product Management, Rishi Jobanputra, addressed this topic in summer 2025. He confirmed that the algorithm does not penalize links in the body if the post offers standalone insights!

You’re not wrong

Agree. I never understood the logic behind "link in the first comment". Every tutorial, every AI tool and almost every LinkedIn expert kept saying the same thing, but it never made technical sense to me. We spend so much time optimising our websites so the Open Graph preview displays properly when a link is shared. Then why deliberately hide the link in the comments? And why would any platform crawl a post and its comments differently just to understand what you're sharing? For every Pollen Dots article we've published, I've always put the link directly in the post, even though many people kept telling me it would hurt reach. It just felt like the right thing to do, both for readers and from a technical standpoint. Good to finally see this myth being put to rest.
