Great list. I felt some parts expect too much from the candidate in a world where most of us don’t even hear back from the companies we’re supposed to fall in love with and thoroughly research lol. But I agree these can lead to a cool discussion.

Fact I’ll regret forever: not joining a friend in the early 2000’ who wanted to buy bitcoin.co.il 😔

Loved the creativity plus utility in these questions. I found myself evaluating my experience against the list. LOL. Marketing is one of a number of "jobs" that holds a position of glamour or appeal among the unknowing like being a clothing buyer, or a DJ. You really need to separate the husk from the corn to find those who know the nuts and bolts through action and your questions demonstrate that it can be done in a way that is engaging, creative and interesting. One we always used was "If Hollywood was casting a movie about you, who would play you and why?" It is amazing what people would answer!

Thanks so much! I’m in the middle of interview prep and found this super helpful. I sometimes want to hide my side gigs and experiments but what you said about domains has me thinking differently

this is great!! 100% agree with the non-conventional approach. As a self taught marketer, a keen interest in owning and learning are skills that are essential to excel in this industry.

But I would think that not many entry level marketing professionals have thought about category design?
