Was 'DPO' their official title, or is it more of a general term used for these roles? I ask because DPOs often come from a variety of titles, and Iβm currently working on something similar for a website project. There might be some parallels I can draw from this. Would love to hear your thoughts!
I love this! And have definitely seen this work myself. Some of the most successful ways I've experienced building my author platform is by boosting other authors.
Great stuff Tom. I've been experimenting with praise-led marketing for a while and it's very powerful indeed. A couple of experiments I've run:
(1) I recently decided to build influencer.dev (the first directory of dev-focused content creators). There was nothing out there for this niche and so I decided to build it myself. I'm just getting started but I've been engaging with content creators (especially the ones who don't think of themselves as 'influencers'!) in a similar fashion and it's magic. People are very responsive to genuine praise and promotion :-)
(2) The "DevX Project" - a series of dedicated interviews featuring for top developer experience voices that I ran while at Livecycle. I targeted/invited people in a very similar way that you describe here. Was a very successful effort.
These are just a few recent examples. I've also used a praise-led approach with cold emails and other growth areas. Bottom line - praise is a powerful marketing tool.
influencer.dev is amazing. In general, any directory of thought leaders and any index that celebrates them --> is utilizing praise-led marketing perfectly

DPO (Data Protection Officer) was their official title. We only targeted those.

100% agree. When you praise others and help them grow - they will return the favor.
Looking at incorporating this into a project I'm working on. Love it
Thank you! Feel free to brainstorm with me about your project
